Pediatric Services
Pediatric Primary Care in Orlando, FL
Childhood is a time of great change, growth, and development. This makes pediatric services, such as the ones we provide, so essential. It is important you stay up to track with how your children are developing. By taking your child’s development into account, you help them take advantage of preventative medicine and assure they will become future healthy adults.
Our pediatric services include:
Vaccinations are a way for us to create immunity in children without them having to experience illnesses in the first place. We do this by introducing a weakened or dead germ to the child’s immune system. The immune system uses the weakened germ almost like a practice round and when the real deal comes along, the immune system is much quicker to react.
School physicals are wellness checkups that are oftentimes required by your child’s school. The exam makes sure that your child is healthy and not going to pose a health risk to other children in school. The exam will include an assessment of the heart, lung, abdominal, and skin. In addition, immunizations will be updated, as appropriate.
Checkups are done on a necessity basis, but it is recommended to be done a few times a year. Our checkups include:
- A full body examination
- A vision and hearing screening
- A blood pressure screening
- An anemia screening
- Urinalysis
Pediatric acute care is provided when a child is suffering from a condition that requires medical attention or has been chronic and needs special attention. Some conditions that require acute pediatric care include:
- Asthma
- Diabetes Type 1 and 2
- Brain Trauma
- Severe Food Allergies
- Respiratory Infections
- Injuries
- Maligned Broken Bones
- Cuts and Burns
Having the right nutrition and exercising regularly are essential for proper development in children. Without either of these, children become more vulnerable to conditions such as type 2 diabetes, scurvy, malnourishment, cognitive decline, and hypothyroidism. Your provider will work with you and your children to develop a plan to keep your child on track for great health.
We use a few tools to perform developmental screenings. These include an overall examination and checklists that ask questions specific for a child's development, including their mobility, speech, language, and emotions. This helps rule out conditions like autism and cognitive decline.
If vision or hearing is compromised, your child can likely face challenges when socializing with other kids, learning at school, and even communicating at home. At our offices, you can expect your child to get comprehensive eye or ear exams, so they can access hearing aids and/or prescription glasses if needed. We are here to make sure your child stays ahead and doesn’t get left behind.
A pre-natal consultation provides a unique opportunity for expecting parents to learn about their pregnancy and developing baby. During the consultation, medical questions related to the pregnancy will be answered and important topics like nutrition and lifestyle changes will also be discussed to ensure that the mother has optimal health throughout her pregnancy.
